SEE: Installing Windows Server Essentials Experience On Windows Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025
The WSEE Installer allows you to install the Windows Server Essentials Experience (WSEE) from Windows Server 2016 onto Windows Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025. You simply install Windows Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025 (Standard or Datacenter), with the Desktop Experience GUI in the language of your choice, onto your server and then run the WSEE Installer package’s MSI file directly from the server desktop. The WSEE Installer will handle installing all required files, registry entries, prerequisite server roles/features, services, etc., and then launch the “Configure Windows Server Essentials” wizard to walk you through configuring Windows Server Essentials on your server. The WSEE Installer will even monitor your installation and alert you whenever updates become available (via alerts that gets displayed within the server Dashboard, and optionally emailed to you via the Windows Server Essentials server’s built-in Health Report Add-In feature). Available updates can then be, quickly and easily, installed via the WSEE Updater.
WSE WorkFolders is a Windows Server Solutions add-in for use with Windows Server 2016 Standard/Datacenter with the Windows Server Essentials Experience (WSEE) server role, or Windows Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025 Standard/Datacenter with Windows Server Essentials Experience installed. WSE WorkFolders makes it possible for administrators to use the Work Folders server role with their Windows Server Essentials (WSE) server. More specifically, WSE WorkFolders allows your users to securely sync their work files to your Windows Server Essentials server, and makes their work files available to them from all of the PCs and devices they use, even when they are offline. It’s a lot like OneDrive and DropBox, but instead of your user’s work files getting synced to the cloud (i.e. to someone else’s computer), they get synced to your very own on-premise Essentials server instead (using HTTPS encryption while in transit and Selective Wipe / EFS encryption while at rest). Administrators can set file storage quotas, file screens, and even revoke access to work files on compromised computers.
WSE RemoteApp is a Windows Server Solutions add-in for use with Windows Server 2016 Standard/Datacenter with the Windows Server Essentials Experience (WSEE) server role, or Windows Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025 Standard/Datacenter with Windows Server Essentials Experience installed. WSE RemoteApp makes it possible for administrators to deliver remote applications (referred to as “RemoteApp programs” or simply “RemoteApps”) to their Windows Server Essentials (WSE) users. More specifically, WSE RemoteApp enables a straightforward publishing process that allows applications installed directly on an Essentials server to be provided to its users as RemoteApp programs, allows the published RemoteApp programs to run side-by-side with local programs, and offers integration with a custom “launcher” application to make it simple for users to find and launch the published RemoteApp programs. Users can run the published RemoteApp programs in a variety of different ways: • Locally from the server’s Launchpad application that is installed on their computer. • Remotely from almost anywhere using the server’s built-in Remote Web Access website. • Remotely from Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows PC/Mobile computers and devices. • Remotely from their favorite web browser via the Remote Desktop web client. |
