Server Dashboard cannot opened via client
Hello,
I have now also successfully activated the Essentials role on my Windows Server 2019 and the client backups are also working without any problems. I am also able to completely restore saved backups via USB stick.
But what doesn’t work: I can’t open the server dashboard via a client, for example to restore individual files. As soon as I try to open the dashboard, a remote desktop connection is first established, but it always stops at “Windows is being configured”. The dashboard does not open. Of course, I can normally access the server via remote desktop; Unfortunately, the restore doesn’t work with this…
I was able to reproduce this problem on two separate server instances. Is there a solution for this?
Many greetings
Michael

I’m not able to replicate this one under 2016, 2019, 2022, or vNext (i.e. the server Dashboard is opening remotely just fine for me here from any connected client computer; both domain joined or SkipDomainJoin connected clients) and so I’m not exactly sure what could be going on there. Sounds like something over on your end (firewall, etc.) is blocking the remote connection. Other than that, are you certain that both your Essentials server, and your client computer has all of the latest Windows Updates installed on them?
